Whether your loved one is recovering from surgery, injury, or illness, they will need a personalized rehab plan designed specifically for them. Poplar Grove offers a wide range of therapy modalities that allow us to effectively and efficiently help elders with pain relief, restore function, improve mobility, and prevent or limit physical and cognitive disabilities.
Our physical therapy program is led by state-licensed physical therapists. Poplar Grove physical therapy sessions are designed to restore strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, respiration, and motor functions. Each elder receives an individualized care plan that documents their progress and allows our physical therapists to accurately assess their ability to become independent and reintegrate into the community successfully. Physical therapy is valuable for individuals recovering from:
- Fractured hips and other bones
- Joint pain
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- And many other conditions
Education is a big part of physical therapy. We teach elders to use adaptive devices and teach those exercises so they can continue at home. Teaching safety and awareness strategies to prevent future injuries is a critical component of our PT program.
Occupational therapy helps elders achieve function, meaning, and satisfaction in aspects of everyday life. Our occupational therapy program helps each individual achieve an understanding of the importance of participation in life’s events for their overall well-being. Poplar Grove elders learn how to successfully navigate everyday challenges like getting dressed, bathing, feeding, home management, and participating in social activities.
Our occupational therapists take a holistic approach to create a plan by assessing:
- Physical condition
- Cognitive condition
- Psychosocial condition
- Sensory condition
- And others
After an evaluation is performed, our occupational therapists create individualized care plans based on specific conditions and limitations. A big part of the program is assisting elders with life transitions and preparing them for change.
Poplar Grove speech therapists work with our medical staff to develop individualized care plans customized to each individual’s unique needs. Elders may need speech pathology as a result of:
- Brain injury
- Progressive diseases
- And others
Speech therapists’ duties include assisting with speech articulation and fluency. If cognitive-communication impairment is present, therapists treat attention and memory deficits, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving deficits.
